Mazola Brown - Executive Producer / Assistant Project Coordinator
Mazola, who plays an extensive role in the overall administration and planning, predominantly serves as Executive Producer for projects produced by the group. In 1999 her first feature assignment was on the feature REFLECTIONS. Mazola worked with our production team that planned the project from pre to post production. In addition, she was Set Designer and Make-up Artist. This film won "Best New Southern Creative Filmmaker" in the "Memphis Black Writers Conference and Southern Film Festival 2002".
Her capacity to wear many hats... Assistant Director, Second Camera Person, Photographer... just to name a few, has definitely added to the success of this project. Her work can be seen on The Common Denominators, and our urban
Sci Fi feature, The Chip Factor. Both of these films received national distribution during the fall of 2007. In the Spring of 2008, both films also received international distribution in Europe and Asia.
She worked on the group's thriller feature... Wanga Woman, which was completed in the Fall of 2008. Mazola also completed production on the group's recent comedy drama feature, released in the "Spring 2010"... "The Audition"... How Do You Handle Rejection? She is now in pre-production with the group's 2011-2012 schedule.
Michael K. Harris - Writer / Director / Project Coordinator / Editor
Since 1999, Michael wrote, directed and edited 6 feature films and a host of other projects produced by New Visions Film Group. The Group's first feature REFLECTIONS, won "Best Southern Creative Filmmaker" in the Memphis Writers Conference and Southern Film Festival 2002 and a "Finalist" in 2003 Spaghetti Junction Film Festival.
In 2004 the group's second feature, The Common Denominators which features "Baba Oje" from the grammy award winning hip hop group "Arrested Development" was an "Official Selection" in the 2006 Independent Black Film Festival - Atlanta.
The group completed production on a third movie in 2006,..."The Chip Factor" an urban sci-fi drama featuring "Professor Griff" and commentary from hip hop icon "Chuck D" of "Public Enemy", which Michael wrote, directed and edited. The Chip Factor and The Common Denominators, received national distribution during the Fall of 2007. In the Spring of 2008, both films also received international distribution in Europe and Asia.
The group's latest thriller feature... Wanga Woman, which was finished during Fall 2008. And released during Spring 2009. The group started pre-production on their 2009 production schedule with their feature ... "The Audition"... How Do You Handle Rejection?, was released during "Spring 2010".
In addition to working on projects produced by N.V.F.G... Michael also concentrates his time on projects such as "Schuman's National Underclassmen Combine" football training camp where he films sports footage of high school students throughout the Southeast. And The Forensic Science Academy, an organization which educates highschool students about careers in forensic science.
The group expands what's on the table for 2011 to include a broader range of projects with bigger focus, a new plan and a new name for the organization... introducing "New Visions Media"... which is now the new name for the group.
Michael has currently returned to school to complete the pursuit of a degree in Visual Communications. He also continues to serve as Project Coordinator for New Visions Media and he attributes his success to his focused energy, people skills, determination and the effectiveness of his team.
